Kenmare Dollars for Scholars received a $1,000 donation from the Bank of North Dakota (BND) to distribute as a scholarship.

Our collaboration with the high school and local community to host Scholarship Power Hour, College Application Month, and attend the 2019-2020 Annual Conference allowed us to qualify for the donation. These events encouraged families to become more aware of the opportunities available in the state for planning and financing post-secondary education.

Our local chapter plans to distribute $27,000 to local high school students and recent college graduates this year. Events such as Home Game Sponsorship and the Annual Big Draw Downto increase the funds available for the students. Individuals and families may donate directly to the local chapter. You may do so by contacting any board member.

Kenmare Dollars for Scholars Attends Annual NDDFS Conference

Earlier this month, representatives Becky Huizenga (treasurer) & Amy Harris (volunteer) from our chapter attended the Annual ND Dollars for Scholars Conference in Carrington.

We learned how crucial it is to make connections within our community by asking more critical questions, doing better consulting, and engaging volunteers across generations. It was another great conference that provided essential takeaways to help our chapter grow and continue to support local students in furthering their education!

2013 "Connect, Learn and Get Inspired" Conference

DeVonne Hanson, Joan Bodmer, and Amy Harris recently attended the 2013 Scholarship America Dollars for Scholars Connect, Learn, and Get Inspired Conference held in Bismarck on November 2nd.

At the conference, attendees received expert-led training on building and utilizing their chapter's brand and hands-on assistance with ChapterNet. This new technology platform allows Dollars for Scholars affiliates to create customized websites. We heard from keynote speaker Max Espinosa, Scholarship America's Senior VP of Education Programs & Policy. Max spoke about the postsecondary attainment challenge for students across the country and magnifying the impact of Scholarship American and Dollars for Scholars.
